One day in 2013 a first year RHUL undergraduate drama student called Charlie decided it would be a great idea to set up a theatre company (at the time not knowing what that really meant). So she asked six of her RHUL undergraduate drama friends to help her (and somehow they said yes to this mad idea). Jump the Puddle was formed.
Since then Jump the Puddle has expanded, grown and changed. It has become a collective of individual artists creating work with a difference - anything and everything! Charlie decided she was fed up with 'not being good enough' to do theatre and so Jump the Puddle was created to allow artists to 'just do something'!
The want is to try new things and work with new and exciting people. The aim is to get stuff wrong, seeing art as a chance to experiment and a chance to learn.
Charlie believes art should aim to find ways to connect people together. She believes in equality, in dreams and that anyone and everyone should be involved in creating theatre - whatever that may be (with or without Jump the Puddle)! If you believe in the same thing then this is the place for you!
The journey has only just begun...
